The Core of Vanguard

The Blizzard
About Us
XPO students completed a reading of Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” as a class, and then worked to rewrite the play into a modern production. Students participated in everything from directing to lighting to acting, and the play was performed in front of a live audience at Kirkland Theatre for two nights. This was a student-led project, and all grades participated. “The Blizzard” was about a high school student named Preston who had to learn a lesson of forgiveness from his friends.
Poetry Slam
About Us
XPO students wrote and performed original spoken word pieces inspired by history items of their choice. These students also organized a public poetry slam event that included parents, coffee, and live music. The event was hosted in the yellow pod classroom at Vanguard.
T & S
About Us
As a callback to “The Blizzard,” XPO students brought back the main characters: Travis and Sly, as the leads in their film, “Travis and Sly’s Excellent Adventure.” This film was created by all students in XPO. Students participated as directors, actors, editors, photographers, videographers, and even marketing.
